A Legacy from 1971

A celebration of the founding a country

Every year, December 2nd marks the founding of a nation. Six Emirates, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm al-Quwain, Fujairah, and Ajman, signed a founding treaty to create the United Arab Emirates. In the following February, Ras Al Khaimah would join only a few months later. This marked the beginning of a new era of cooperation, stability, and development. The formerly independent Emirates created one from seven. They worked to create a common system of administration, finance, infrastructure, education, and defense. The UAE's National Day is a celebration of this work and a reminder of how far the nation has come in just over five decades and how far it will go in the future.

The celebrations are vibrant and deeply rooted in Emirati culture. Streets and landmarks are adorned with the UAE flag, fireworks light up the skies, and traditional performances showcase the country’s rich heritage. From parades to cultural festivals, the spirit of unity is felt everywhere on the "Eid Al Etihad" the "Day of Unity". We celebrated national day at Yas Bay, where guests can hold falcons, see classic car collections, get UAE themed face paint, watch traditional craftwork, and enjoy a spectacular fireworks show. Here there was a contrast of new and old, the modernity of the city and its origins all in one place. If you find yourself in the UAE during national day, stop by Yas Bay for an evening celebration and fun for the whole family!
